Current Role

My current role is National Marketing Manager with Allmar Inc.  We’ve been in business for over 65 years, and I’ve enjoyed seeing Allmar evolve and grow in the 25+ years since I’ve been a part of it.

Number of years in the industry

My first exposure to the door and hardware industry was near the end of high school, at first doing odd jobs like window cleaning and filing at Allmar. With my father and uncle as owners of the business, I was also included in some annual meetings in the years prior to my joining Allmar full time.  I had the chance to visit with industry greats like Gil (and Cecile) Berard, AHC, Paul Boyd, AHC and Greg (and Marg) Irwin and see what they loved about the industry. I observed the collaboration, knowledge, business skills, fun, and friendships and realized that the door and hardware industry is deceptively interesting, with great people!

It was Gil Berard, who was VP of Sales & Marketing at the time, who convinced me to join Allmar.  My career progression has taken me through various roles in the business, from HR Manager to Training Manager, to Marketing Specialist to my most recent role.  I got my MBA, with concentrations in marketing and leadership in 2020 and I have enjoyed putting my new skills and insights to work and doing my small part to shape a great company.  Now I get to work with industry greats like Mark Sorrenti, DEHC and Brad Miles, along with a great management team and fantastic individuals in the vendor and construction community.

Involvement with DHI Canada

My involvement with DHI Canada and DHI International has varied, from taking the intro DHI course in the early years, to organizing 6 Allmar In-House DHI training schools for our staff from 2011-2016, to a recent involvement over the past few years with DHI Canada Advocacy and on the marketing committee.  My grandfather Henry Redekopp, founder of Allmar, was a strong supporter of DHI from the early days.  With a personal love of learning, I’ve always appreciated the company’s support of DHI education and the professionalism, network, and knowledge that DHI builds.  Being part of the advocacy and working to support DHI education has contributed to my professional development and given me the opportunity to interact with great people of various backgrounds and companies, while seeing Allmar’s staff grow and develop.

How the DHI Canada supported your development

As you can already tell, what I enjoy most about the architectural openings industry is the people who collaborate to make this a great industry, as well as seeing the industry make an impact on life safety, accessibility, security, and sustainable building.

Fun fact

I enjoy being outdoors, including walking our dog and travelling with my husband and two daughters to Salt Spring Island and to Hawaii when we get the chance.
