Courtney Sheals, DHT

Project Manager, Coastal Entrance Solutions

Let us know which credentials you have earned and when you earned them, and which credentials you hope to earn in the future.

I earned my DHT in November 2019 and my next goal is to achieve my DHC.

How many years have you been in the industry and can you share some of your past experiences?

This will be my 10th year in the industry.  I started as a Project Coordinator and I quickly evolved to a Project Manager/Estimator.   I have recently taken on the role of President for the Atlantic Provinces Chapter and I'm looking forward to providing more programs for the chapter

How long have you been participating in DHI Canada’s education program and which courses have you taken?

I've been participating in DHI Canada's education program for 10 years and I've taken COR101, COR102, COR117, COR133, COR146, COR163 and DHT120.  Since joining Coastal Entrance Solutions two years ago, I have become much more committed to advancing my knowledge through the education program.

Have you participated in both our national schools and our regional schools?

I have participated in both the national and regional schools and I find the opportunity to take education more often throughout the year is extremely beneficial.

How has participation in our education programs contributed to your professional development and your career?

In addition to education, DHI courses have allowed me to connect with others in our industry across Canada and to build personal and professional relationships.

What impacts have our instructors had in mentoring you and engaging you in the industry?

I work closely with Tim Ettinger, AHC, DHT, DHC, CFDAI, who has become one of my most important mentors, both personally and professionally.

In your opinion, what is the most important benefit of DHI Canada’s education program?

Definitely industry connections and the support available with colleagues across the country.

Personal story or memories you wish to share

I have wonderful memories about every aspect of Canada Conference 2022 in Kelowna.  The location, the people, the education and the excellent speakers combined to make this a great experience from start to finish.  I'm looking forward to working with the rest of the team to host Canada Conference 2024 in Halifax.
